Mulholland Drive

mulholland drive movie posterI know a movie is good when I think about it for weeks after I’ve seen it.

After watching the entire two seasons of Twin Peaks last year with Jill, I felt the need to catch up on David Lynch films and watch Mulholland Drive. (Thanks to Brandon, Caity and Kristen for prompting “Movie Night” and coming over to watch it with us!) This post is my take on what Mulholland Drive is all about. Most of the explanation is culled from me watching it a few times, countless hours of thinking about the movie and theories discussed on movie message boards.

Spoiler Warning! If you haven’t seen the movie, I strongly recommend not reading the rest of this post! It is much more enjoyable to figure out this movie on your own. However, if you’ve seen the movie and are so frustrated and annoyed by it that you need to make sense of it, read on…

Super Bowl XXXVIII

Super Bowl XXXVIII optiomizes what I love about pro football.

Football is my favorite pro sport because it is truly a team sport. The Panthers and Patriots made it to the Super Bowl not relying on superstar players to carry them through, but rather relying on excellent leadership, good coaching and yup, you guessed it, teamwork. The game featured offenses that had many contributors, and defenses making plays when they had to. This was by farthe best Super Bowl game I have ever seen.

Too bad all the media attention has been directed at the asinine half-time show events…
